North Bellmore, NY – The North Bellmore North Merrick Rebels defeated Manhasset today by a score of 9 – 5 to improve their record in South Shore Tournament pool play to a perfect 3 – 0.

Rebels starting pitcher Jack Delaney showed good command and velocity keeping Manhasset off the board while the Rebels posted three in each of the first two innings jumping out to a 6 – 0 lead.

Two-thirds into the fouth, Delaney was hit in his throwing hand by a hard come-backer causing him to leave the game after 49 pitches and a 6 – 2 lead.

Alec Acri, called in to emergency service, stepped up with a very solid performance in long relief allowing the Rebels to maintain their momentum and saving precious pitching resources for today’s remaining two games.

The Rebels displayed proficiency in all aspects of their game today with the aforementioned pitching, some very good defense when they needed it, hitting throughout the line-up, and smart, aggressive base-runnning.

NBNM get back between the lines later today at 3:00 when they face the SYAG Braves for a double-header in NJBL league play at Gunther Field.
