Rebels Return to Form With Impressive 12-6 Win Over Elwood

East Northport, NY – The NBNM Rebels came out with bats ablaze to beat the Elwood Storm convincingly Tuesday, 12 – 6.

Rebels Head Coach Sam Acri addressed his players in a pre-game speech that was delivered calmly but seriously. Coach Sam made it very clear that he expected more from his players than he’s been getting lately and reminded his players that, while he’s well aware of their talents and skills, membership on his team comes by the merit of ongoing and consistent effort, as well. Finally, he asked for particular focus on hitting.

His team responded. Every Rebel in the lineup reached base safely and starting pitcher Jack Delaney, Billy McAdam, Nick Valeriano, Alec Acri and Kevin Weber all produced multiple hits. Acri had two doubles and four RBIs. The Rebels took a 12 – 2 lead into the fifth.

The Storm produced a mini-rally in the fifth inning when they managed to score four. But Delaney, perhaps beginning to tire under the late-July heat and humidity, was able to bear down and get out of the inning with a still-comfortable 12 – 6 lead.

Brian Porricelli, in the closer’s role, featured a good-looking fastball and struck out the side in the sixth.

The Rebels return home to Gunther Field Thursday July 22 at 6:30 pm to face Nassau Express. A post-game BBQ is planned for Rebels, their families, and friends.
