13U Prospects Ousted from 14U BoS

Posted by Long Island Prospects at Aug 6, 2013 5:02AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Among a field of sixteen 14U teams in the top division of the Boys of Summer, the 13U Prospects concluded the summer season last night with a hard-fought 3-2 play-off loss to finish fifth in the final standings.

En route to their 17-8 regular season record, the goal of ‘playing up’ to challenge this team was achieved. Starting back in May, game after game, Prospects players have been quite literally looking up at their older, larger and more physically mature opponents, most of whom already have a season of high school ball under their belts.

In order to compete in this league, this team needed to play high-quality and advanced baseball. Their .680 winning percentage confirms they were very successful in their mission. The experience has only made this team stronger in the long run as this class of 2017 approaches their freshman high school year.

The objective of this organization remains to ‘build better ballplayers’ by teaching all aspects of baseball and challenging our kids to continuously improve their game and themselves.

Bayport, NY – The 13U LI Prospects came back to defeat the league-leading 14U LI Titans yesterday, 3-2, in their first meeting at Bayport-Bluepoint High School yesterday. The victory improved the Prospects record to 13-5 in the Boys of Summer 14U National division where the team is ‘playing up’ and hanging amongst the leaders. The Titans loss is just their second of the season.

The Prospects continue BoS league play Sunday when they face the LI Spartans in a double-header at Connetquot High School.

Yaphank, NY – After a strong start of two run-rule, shut-out wins to open pool play at the Baseball Heaven Independence Day Championships this weekend, the 13U Long Island Prospects went flat and sloppy scoring just 3 runs against 13 in the next two games and getting bounced from a tournament play-off berth for the first time in 2013.

The Prospects will have two days off to lick their wounds and right their ship before returning to Boys of Summer league play Tuesday night against the 14U Diamond Spikes at Abe Levitt park in Hicksville.
