The 13U LI Prospects improved to 7-3 in the the 14U Boys of Summer league on Thursday in Ronkonkoma with a walk-off win against the MLI Phantoms. On a day when Prospects starting pitcher Brian Porricelli uncharacteristicly struggled with command, Jake Cheshire stepped up with a great effort in long relief. Nick Valeriano was stellar on defense at first base to go with 2 hits and a run scored. Other key contributors on offense were Matt Conry with 2 hits, 2 RBI and a run scored; Alec Acri who went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored; and Chris Wasson who fought off a 1-2 fastball into right center field in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off.

For Fathers Day, Sunday June 16, the Prospects faced the LI Lookouts in a double-header at Port Jeff. The Lookouts put the pressure on in game one when Prospects starter Nick Valeriano was touched up for 6 hits and 5 runs giving the Lookouts a 5-1 lead after 2 innings. The Prospects managed a 3-run fifth inning but had 11 LOB on the day while the Lookouts continued to produce runs heading to an 11-4 final that the Prospects would try quickly to forget.

In game two, Prospects starting pitcher Matt Conry faced just 5 over the minimum picking up 8 Ks and a shut-out. In the top of the first inning, a single up the middle by Nick Valeriano followed by a double to right by Brian Porricelli was all the scoring the Prospects would need en route to a 4-0 win.

Friday June 14 the Prospects had a short ride to East Meadow to face the Mustangs. The Prospects took an early lead when a walk to Billy McAdam and a 2-out RBI single by Matt Conry got the Prospects to 1-0 after one. In the third inning, though, the Mustangs turned a walk and a couple of hits into 3 runs. With the score 3-1 in the middle of four, heavy rain came and washed out the field that was already saturated from earlier in the week and the game was suspended, to be completed at a later date.

Saturday 6/8 the Prospects visited the South Shore Chiefs for a double-header in Massapequa Park. Game one was decidedly for the Prospects as starting pitcher Brian Porricelli held the Chiefs to 2 hits while striking out 7 in six innings of work. Meanwhile RBI hits by Eric Solomon, Alec Acri, and Matt Nilsen were part of a Prospects 5-hit, 6-run fourth inning on the way to a 7-2 victory.

The Chiefs turned the tide in game two. With the score tied 1-1 in the middle of the fourth, South Shore converted 4 hits and a walk into 4 runs and a 5-1 lead as the Prospects went down quietly 6-1.

On Thursday June 6, the Prospects traveled to Holbrook to face the LI Force. The Prospects got on the board first when pitcher Matt Conry helped himself with a two-out RBI single scoring Billy McAdam. After the Force tied it in the second inning, and the score 1-1 in the middle of four, the Prospects got things going in the bottom when a lead-off walk to Nick Valeriano followed by a RBI double by Brian Porricelli led to a 4-run inning and a 5-1 lead. When the Force added a run in the fifth inning to come within three, the Prospects responded with 2 runs in the sixth leading to the 7-2 final.
