Rebels Split With Yankees

Centereach, NY – The Rebels met the previously undefeated Three Village Yankees Saturday in NJBL league play splitting a double-header with a 7-4 win and a 7-4 loss.

The Rebels charged hard out of the gate in game one putting up crooked numbers in each of the first two innings and maintaining their lead throughout the contest.

Rebels starting pitcher Kevin 5 was dominant and very effectively changed his speeds and changed his locations keeping Yankees hitters off balance.

In game two the Yankees bats came alive in a big way as they put together a flurry of extra-base hits in the first inning hanging a 5-spot on the board before the Rebels digested their between-games snack.

The Rebels, however, did not surrender. The pitching and defense settled down and the offense chipped away at the lead.

Mike 13 was very good in relief showing nice velocity, control and, again, changing speeds and locations.

NBNM pulled to within two runs, 6-4, in the fourth but that was as close as they would get.

Overall, this was a day when the Rebels performed well and, with the kids from Three Villages, put a very nice and entertaining product on the field.

The 1-1 showing moved the Rebels into sole posession of 2nd place in the NJBL 9 American divison.

The Rebels next game is at home against Brentwood, Saturday 10/17 at 10:00am.

I was very happy with last weekend’s performance by the boys.
Sometimes when the end of the season gets close, teams lose there desire tom play well, you guys play hard in both games and that’s a great thing to see in a young team.
