Coram, NY – The LI Prospects got off the BoS schneid yesterday when they swept a doubleheader convicingly from the Diamond Baseball Academy, 10-0 and 11-3.

Game one featured dominant pitching from Prospects’ starter Brian Porricelli. While DBA bats struggled, the Prospects’ offense got going early when a lead-off walk to Billy McAdam was followed with a single by Nick Valeriano, a RBI double by Porricelli and a 2-RBI single by Matt Conry for a 3-0 lead from which they wouldn’t look back. Porricelli, who picked up 2 more RBI with another double in the fourth inning, pitched a run-rule-shortened 5-inning complete game striking out 9.

The Prospects took an early lead in game two when Jack Delaney drew a RBI walk and McAdam dropped a RBI base hit into left for a 2-0 lead through three. Valeriano, pitching for the Prospects, was cruising through two quick outs in the fourth when Diamond Baseball worked 4 hits and 3 Prospects errors into 3 runs and a 3-2 lead. But the Prospects came right back in the fifth with a 1-out single by Valeriano and RBI singles from Porricelli and Eric Solomon to regain the lead, 4-3. The game got out of hand in the sixth when two walks and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases full of Prospects. McAdam picked up a RBI single and walks to Valeriano and Porricelli loaded them up again. Conry then burned the left fielder for a base-clearing double and later scored on an error for a 7-run inning. Valeriano threw 1-2-3 innings in each of the sixth and seventh for the complete-game victory.

The Prospects face Hanks Yanks Tuesday night in Ronkonkoma.
