Rebels Drop 2 to Eagles

Hauppauge, NY – The North Bellmore North Merrick Rebels were swept today dropping both ends of a double-header, 8-4 and 3-1, to the Hauppauge Eagles.

The Rebels fell behind early in both games and were decidedly flat throughout the day. Coach Sam in post-game comments described the team’s performance today as "lifeless".

A bright spot was pitching. Matt 11 and Kevin 38 combined in the first game and Alec 14 and Matt 7 worked the second. The pitchers did what was asked of them and kept the Rebels within striking distance in both games.

But the offense left many men on base and was unable to provide consistent output and run support.

The defense, as well, was tentative and inconsistent and allowed Eagles’ innings to be extended.

The two losses puts the Rebels record in NJBL at 6-4 and smack in the middle of a tightly packed field of teams vying for a play-off berth.

The Rebels next NJBL contest is this Tuesday, 7/28, at the SYAG Braves.

As the Head Coach of this team I am going to take the blame for yesterdays losses.
The camp that a lot of the boys went to this past week was a lot of work and left the boys very tired when it was done.
I often ask the players to learn from there mistakes and as a coach I need to do the same.
So lets forget yesterday and get back to work this week.
